Explanation / Answer

Dr. Martin Luther King in his famous speech uttered these words, ‘I dream of a society in which people would be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character’. American society dominated by the white majority during his time foolishly thought that being white in body color is sufficient enough to make them more superior to other races. They wanted a reason to ill treat others and they found one. The atrocities and inhuman violence that the whites unleashed on other races, especially the black people, in today’s standards is barbaric, unacceptable and uncivilized. It only proved the ignorance of the white people and ignorance is not bliss. So he brought out the statement that one should be judged by one’s character and not by the color of one’s skin. Today, the white world has understood it that’s why there is equal number of white celebrities, industrialists, experts etc. from other races too.

One reason why people get into the racial discrimination is because they think they are from a majority group and so they are strong. Although it looks like a fight of races, it’s a fight between majority and minority. Blacks were always a minority group, so the white majority tried to dominate the black minority. Racism is the act of discriminating the minority race by ill treating them physically and psychologically whereas racial prejudice is considering other races as dangerous with the preconceived notions.
