write 3-5 sentences response to this post in your own words .
Yes, society has a responsibility to provide health care to all its citizens, regardless of merit. Based on this, I hold an egalitarian view of distributive justice. Providing health care to all citizens benefits a country because it enables its citizens to lead healthy productive lives. As Daniels states, “Preventing or curing disease or disability reduces suffering and enables people to function in way that contribute to aggregate welfare” (p. 738).
In terms of what should be covered, I think medical care that returns people to health should be covered, but treatments that go beyond normal functioning (like cosmetic plastic surgery) should not be covered. I disagree when Daniel speaks of counseling and Prozac not being covered because we are not entitled to be “completely happy” (p.740). Depression isn’t simply about being unhappy; it is a mental health disorder that much of the time prevents the individual from leading a productive life, and that hurts society as a whole.
I believe health care should be the responsibility of the federal government under a single tier system. This allows for equal distribution of treatment and keeps providers in one system (rather than have a two tier system where the best providers are drawn to independent payer systems that can pay more). It’s not a perfect system, many times there can be long waits for treatment. However, the system our country currently has is far from perfect and many are left with no health care options other than emergency rooms, and that wastes money for every single one of us.

Explanation / Answer
I am in agreement with the discussion in the paragraph. Proper health care is the right of every citizen and the government should be responsible for providing the basic health care. There are people of all classes in society. As it is observed in the paragraph that the procedures that have cosmetic value should not be covered at all but at the same time, there are people who are not able to afford the basic minimum health intervention because of poverty. For such people, it becomes utmost important that the government should come up some programme and cover them with healthcare facilities. Entering straightaway to the emergency rooms is neither good for the pocket nor for the life.
