At the Battle of Hastings,  King Harold II of England was defeated by the Norman forces of William the Duke of Normandy. This battle was fought on Senlac Hill, seven miles from Hastings, England. According to the legend, Harold was shot in the eye with an arrow and got killed, and thereafter, his forces were destroyed.
