For this assignment you will observe the behaviors of two individuals from two different developmental stages. Your observations may occur anywhere, they can be of friends/family or of strangers in a public area such as a mall or park.
First, review Piaget's Stages of Cognitive Development and Erikson's Psychosocial Stages in the textbook and using online resources.
Then, observe the behaviors of two individuals, each from a different developmental stage (infant/toddler, young child, adolescent, adult, elderly adult). In an APA formatted essay paper include the following:

Discuss Piaget’s and Erickson’s stages that apply to the ages you chose. Include information about the typical characteristics associated with the specific stage, the age or age range it aligns with, and the main behaviors the theorists asserted are observed during the stage.

Describe the individuals you observed for each stage, include their age, a brief physical description, where the observation occurred and the particular behaviors noted. Please do not include specific personal information such as names or a particular address etc in order to protect the privacy of your subjects.

Explain how the behaviors of the individuals you observed align with the characteristics associated with the particular Piaget and Erickson stages for the ages you chose. Describe behaviors you noted that are in line with the two theories. Discuss behaviors observed that do not align with the particular stage of the two theories

Discuss any strengths or weaknesses noted about the theories based on your observations.

Developmental Stages

subject (1) is a toddler of 2 years falls in Piaget's sensorimotor stage of cognitive development and Erickson's psychosocial stage of early childhood

Subject (2) is an adolescent of 15 years who falls in Piaget's formal operating Stage of cognitive development and Erickson's adolescence stage of psychosocial development

Subject (1) sensorimotor stage.

During this period, infants gradually learn that these is a relationship between their actions and external world. They discover that they can manipulate objects and produce effects. In short they acquire a grasp of cause and effect.

Subject(1) Erickson's early childhood

This is the stage where they begin to explore their surroundings. They get increased muscular coordination and they begin to do things themselves. Like feeding and dressing themselves.

If the caregivers encourage them, they develop a sense of autonomy but If they demand too much or refuse the children perform their own tasks, the children develop a sense of shame or doubt their ability.

The toddler observed seems to be active and tries to be independent, doesn't want help in wearing her clothes. The toddler has acquired the idea of object permanence that she plays peek a boo with her mother. (The observation was occured in her home)

Subject (2) Piaget's Formal operating Stage of cognitive development

During this stage, the individuals acquire the capacity for deductive or propositional reasoning.

Deductive reasoning is the ability to generate hypothesis and to think logically about Symbols, ideas and propositions

Interpositional thinking is which a child seeks to test the validity of several propositions

Subject (2) Erickson's adolescent stage of psychosocial development.

The individual now become concerned of how they appear to others. The ability to settle in a school or occupational identity becomes pleasant. The teen-ager in this stage must achieve his identity to avoid identity crisis and ending up in role confusion

The individual was observed in a ground. He seems to be outgoing with his team. He was able to form a hypothesis to play his game(football). He seems confident. when addressed, he expressed his interest in the game and he found himself involved in it. He as the captain of his team had formed his own identity which seems to be the reason for his confidence.
