The article cookie monster is describing eating disorder called Bulimia Nervosa, it the article we can find some researches regarding the disorder with the help of examples and research findings. Emotional eating can be possible by the strong desire of healthy body or it may be developed by the anxiety disorder and stress.
Some researches defined that eating disorders and over eating can be developed by conditioning like eating habits during watching TV and playing games.
Research explained the reasons and characteristics of over eating and problems of obesity in developed countries but in the given article we cannot find the appropriate variables and data to analyse with respect to level of significance and statistical methods.
We need more information about variables involved in articles like their ages, interests, case studies and psychological conditions.
Ans. 2
The study of University of Michigan and eating disorder specialists could not include the manipulation of variables because the study has examined wide variety of variables like Hispanics, Asian and blacks etc. so that large number of variables in research opposes the manipulation of variables. The second article is describing Anorexia Nervosa, an eating disorder in which a person experiences lack of hunger and strong desire to be thin and underweight. The research also not included biological variables and biological conditions of a variables which are most important in this research.
In my opinion the research is just describing social aspects of eating disorder but not describing psychological and biological aspects in details.
Manipulation of variables in a research is important part to find the significance information and relation between dependent and independent variables, the above research we cannot manipulate variables because of their constant values, sometime large number of variable do not allow us to manipulate and examined the given data.

As a psychologist I would prefer to study the whole scenario of eating disorder rather than independent conditions, the research must be based on all aspects that can affects the variables and research. All studies are describing same finding in different ways and with different data analysis while I would try to combine studies with respect to findings of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. The proposed research will analyse case studies, biological data and psychological finding and further research possibilities to get proper and applied knowledge about eating disorders.
The research will also provide suggestions to parents, teachers and individuals about care, identification, precautions and effects of behavioural problems. When we talk about the social impact of research we must be more careful because some findings can be more influential than others.
I would like to use research findings to help society rather than increase the knowledge and information.
