William Lloyd Garrison, born December 10, 1805, Newburyport, Massachusetts, U.S was a social reformer who worked for the abolition of slavery. He was also a journalist and founded the newspaper ‘The Liberator’, with Isaac Knapp in 1831. He was the editor of this newspaper and continued to publish it in Massachusetts until slavery was abolished. He died on May 24, 1879.
