Question

Name of the song: Mokenstef- He's Mine

Does the song express a Utilitarian approach to cheating? Why? Why not? How so? How not?

[Verse 1:]
He might be doing you
But he's thinking about me
So baby, think about another lover
And go find another brother
I know he's my man
He's all in my hands
It feels good when he calls my name
Don't you wish you had the same?
Feeling disgust working your stuff
Until he thinks about mine
Now he's feeling real high
You ask why 'cause he's mine

Tell you something
That just ain't cool
Never fall in love with a man
Who don't love you
I wouldn't waste my time
Telling something wrong
You've been with him one night
And now he's coming home

[Chorus:]
He's mine
You may have had him once
But I got him all the time
(You can't sleep at night)
He's mine
You may of had him once
But I got him all the time
(Don't try to dry your eyes)
He's mine
You may of had him once
But I got him all the time
(I got him all the time)

Explanation / Answer

The song expresses a wife’s or long time partner’s anguish over her partner’s cheating. She is addressing the one with whom her lover is cheating by saying that it’s a one night stand and at the end, she says that her lover will return to her. She is not condemning the act of cheating or trying to address it to her lover directly instead allow both to cheat thus making the utilitarian stand of increasing happiness to the parties involved with less harm. On the other hand she wants the women who sleeps with her lover to know that she could never have her women and try to induce some pain in her heart thus causing harm indirectly.
