1. What is the difference between a homose-xual orientation and a heterose-xual orientation? Define Bise-xuality.
Heterose-xuality is when people tend to get romantically attracted to individuals of the opposite gender. homose-xuality is when people tend to get romantically attracted to individuals of the same gender. These people would getting attracted to people of the same as well as opposite gender.
2. Explain how se-xual orientation was viewed in the past and compare to how it is viewed now. Consider cultural and religious factors in your answers. You can choose one or two cultural views to explain your answers .
In the past, se-xual orientation was only in terms of being attracted to opposite genders was only accepted and considered to be normal. In fact, homose-xuality had been considered as a diagnostic criteria till the year 1973, when it had been removed from the 2nd edition. Today, neither is this considered abnormal, nor thought to be madness. in fact, marriage rights have been granted to same se-x couples.
3. Se-Xual orientation and biology has been an area of research. Though, the demonstration has not been conclusive as of yet. Though, the hypothesis is that in order for determining se-xual orientation, there are a number of factors that are responsible such as the hormonal, social as well as genetic factors. Twin studies have tried to compare the influence of genetics on the se-xual orientation of a person, which was studied in monozygotic twins and dizygotic twins which indicated that almost 52%monozygotuc brothers as well as 22% dizygotic brothers had been concords for for being homose-xual.
4. Baby blues are short lived periods of sadness or being weepy or being moody. This has been reported in almost 70% of new moms. This happens when women have experienced huge amount of shame as well as guilt after giving birth to children and they are not able to express it since there is a huge pressure for them to be happy. This happens since, estrogwn as well as progesterone are extremely high and these drop suddenly after the baby is delivered. Post party’s depression is when the symptoms would be lasting for more than 2 weeks and these would be interfering with the normal functioning of a person. There might be depression, anxiety or lack in interest along with obsession as well as feeling of hopelessness. This would bE seen to happen in the first 3 months of delivery of the child.
5. Teratogens are substances that would be causing abnormal prenatal development when the fetus is exposed to these agents at the time of pregnancy. An increased prevalence of teratogens may lead to birth defects, abnormalities, congenital defects or premature birth.
