Question
In spite of the claims of people such as CBC personality David Suzuki, the so-called missing link between man and beast has never been found. Each type of species was created with the programmed ability to evolve different types of its own species, but one kind cannot evolve into another. The basic teaching of evolution is based on an assumption.
Is there a potential fallacy of relevance (e.g. strawman, red herring, ad populam, ad hominem, pro homine, guilt by association, honour by association, ad ingorantiam) in the text box argument? If so, identify the pattern and explain whether it is fallacious or not fallacious. (Worth 2 marks)
Explanation / Answer
The fallacy of this passage is ad ignorantiam or appeal to ignorance. This error of reasoning has been committed in this passage as this passage is refuting the link between man and beast because it had been not proved true.
