Note: This response is in UK English, please paste the response to MS Word and you should be able to spot discrepancies easily. You may elaborate the answer based on personal views or your classwork if necessary. Also, I haven’t added topical lines from the story as I couldn’t seem to find it online. You will have to add a sentence or two from the story.
(Answer) Kevin tells Max all about King Arthur and his knights. He talks about how King Arthur sent out his knights to complete quests and they did it with great bravery. In this way, Kevin feels that they were almost like the very first versions of robots. In order to do things like, “slay dragons”, Kevin felt that one has to be more than just a human being.
He felt that they had superhuman abilities because of their armour. Kevin himself has braces on his leg which he feels gives him heightened abilities to use his leg. This is why he also calls himself a “Robot Man.” Kevin also made up stories that would give him hope about his condition. He had even told Max that the doctor has made a robot armour for himself. Later, Max found out that Kevin would not be really getting any armour that would make him invincible.
King Arthur and the knights of the round table was probably a coping mechanism for Kevin and that is why he was so attached to the story.
