3) Give an example of a time in which you have been part of a group that experienced PROCESS GAIN. Explain at least two reasons why process gain was possible.

4) Give an example of a time when you have been part of a group that experienced PROCESS LOSS. Explain at least two reasons why process loss occurred.

Explanation / Answer

1) Process gain can be experienced when the group is of a smaller size. so that equal productivity happens.

The presence of other or a supervisor can lead to process gain. It is known that people work harder and more productively when they are being watched.

A less diverse group can lead to better process gain as it reduces conflict and time wasted on differences.

2) Process loss is experienced when there are more members added in the group. The larger the group the less productive and much time is taken to come to a decision.

Process loss happens when there is difficulty in coordinating and sharing the work. Unequal distribution of work can cause process loss.

Process loss is also experienced by maximising tasks in a regular basis.

3) Process gain was experienced when I worked with a smaller group, as communication and coordination was easier. Decision making and execution was quicker. Distribution of work was equal and timely.

4) Process loss occurred when there were too many members in the group with much diversity. There was constant conflicts and differences which lead to delayed work. Too many clashes and ambiguity happened. It was difficult to coordinate with every member and evaluate work.
