Ahhough the 40-hour workweek is now the exception rather than the norm, some individuals are taking things to the extreme John Bishop, 3 1, is an investment banker who works for Citigroup's global energy team in New York. A recent workday for Bishop consisted of heading to the office for a conference call at 6:00p that same morning for a 9:00 am. presentation in Houston. Following the presentation, Bishop returned to New York the same day, and by 7:00 p.m, he was back in his office to work an additional three hours. Says Bishop, "I might be a little skewed to the workaholic, but realistically, expecting 90 to 100 hours a week is not at all unusual.

Explanation / Answer

Answer 1) Certain individuals are certainly attracted to the jobs which queezes your brain out and make you work for more than 60 hours a week but that whats distinguish them from the crowd and hence they are heading such firms and not all gets to do that work. Because it requires passion, motivation and love for work to do so.

People who just works for the sake of earning money and do the same work monotonuosly without being motivated to continue to do so gets tiresome and they are the ones who are stressed, crib over their jobs. As it is likely that if you do not like what you do, you will be just watching the watch for completing the required number of hours. Although, it also gives you work life balance and that is really required for all humans to be social, follow their hobbies, spend time with their family etc.

However, people working for more than 60 hours a week makes their work as their hobby.

Answer 2) Characteristics of such jobs which keeps them highly motivated-

Answer 3) When one is passionated about their work, tend to spend more time on work( these four individuals) thereby increasing productivity levels which in turn enhances job performance and ultimately the turn over of the firm.

As far as the citzenship behavious is concerned, he/she is contributing to the economy of the nation, creating jobs (as they are generating more revenue implying more work for the organization).

Answer 4) Jobs which other people also desires provide a great push to those who already have it. As they know if they change, there are many already in the queue to grab the chair so they are motivated to work the same way. This makes them happy and gives them satisfaction that the work they do is other people's desires.
