Follow the steps in Lecture to answer the following: 1) The Milgram study was an interesting study in social psychology. Milgram believed that conformity, listening to a man in a lab coat, could make an average person more violent, expressed by electrocuting a test subject. 2) Due to the rise in technology, a researcher wants to analyze if those who use the internet daily have higher or lower levels of happiness than those who do not use the internet daily 3) Broken windows theory argues that structural damage can increase crime. Similarly, a researcher wanted to assess what effect neighborhood foreclosures had on crime.

Explanation / Answer

Milgram study was based on the premise that individuals are capable of compromising on their moral and ethical principles as long as they have an 'authority' figure dictating the terms. He conceptualized that it was easier for individuals to shift blame on to the authority figure especially if they knew they were going something that was against the ethical regulations.

The many soldiers during the Nazi revolution can be taken as an instance of such an example.

2. It would be easier to measure this tentative hypothesis by a self report measure.

3. This conundrum can be measured in terms of the amount of foreclosures that do take place in certain areas, and the crime rate that is foreseen in these places. It is important to not mistake correlation for causation, hence it is of utmost important to have demographic details of individuals who have experienced foreclosure with the stipulated area.
