messaging vs real life communication
Life can be seen through two fundamental ways of communication, one is the present world,- the virtual world and the second is the real life world, which has become lesser in today’s day. It is important to realise that the virtual world or the messaging world is not the one that is real. This in turn can also be referred to as the “low resolution” life. This is called so because though messaging may be one of the most prevalent forms of communication today, there are no facial expressions, or display of body languages or any sort of visual input in this sort of communications. This in turn may be the cause of a number of problems, conflicts, misunderstandings, over interpretations, misinterpretations as there is a complete lack of emotional content that give clear signs of communication. There is complete elimination of non verbal communications. As a result, many emotions are lost during translations.
This results in hindering of the visual imagination along with an inhibition of the creativity development. Also, there occurs a complete brutalisation in the writing of people. This is because, when a person is face to face and talking, they could control their emotions, looking at the other person. But, on texts, there are no moral boundaries, leading to a reckless throw of words. Also, there is a decrease in the activity of the pre frontal cortex, with an influence of dopamine, as a resulting affecting the most important executive functions that include decision making, self control, planning as well as abstract thinking.
Why real life interactions are better is that because there is an interaction of the sensory experiences in the form of sound, sight, touch, smell, balance, movement and most importantly emotions. Though technology has progressed to great heights, it has not been able to cover up for the balance sensations as well as the movements neither, has it been able to compensate for the values that are driven in humans. Also, real life interactions provide with relevance and personal meanings which is not obtained through messaging.
