I am also grateful to say that I have a new appreciation of the work of psychologists and clinicians in that the work that they contribute to makes an effect on tomorrow's future. What I will remember most from this course is learning about schizophrenia. The concept that stood out to me the most was the video. Before watching the video and reading the material, I was under the impression that this disorder meant that the individual was pretty psychotic. That is how the media interpreted schizophrenia, so I had this belief about what it was. And I liked how the video emphasized how that schizophrenia is the exact opposite as to how it is perceived. It is a serious disorder, but these individuals are just like you and I, dealing with daily tasks and managing life events.
