Question
Peer review the following for,
Clarity: Was the work clear, organized, and easy to follow?
Content: Was the content appropriate to the task, accurate, and supported?
Process: Is the overall development and progression of the project sound and feasible/realistic?
Quality: Does the work appear to meet the overall goal of the project by “creating hope in the world by understanding and improving relationships”?
This will be accomplished through my action plan. It begins by measuring a person’s subjective view of their current state of flourishing put forth by the former president of the American Psychological Association Dr. Martin Seligman. In his book Flourish, he categorizes what it means to live well: 1) Positive Emotions, 2) Engagement, 3) Healthy Relationships, 4) Meaning (Spirituality), and 5) Achievement. My participants will fill out an entry survey that asks them to rank where they are in each of the PERMA categories via www.surveymonkey.com. They will then participate in a 24-day online devotional from Newspring Church based on the Gospel of Luke (https://newspring.cc/studies/luke-a-24-day-devotional). At the end of the 24 days, they will fill out an exit survey that asks them to rank where they are in each of the PERMA categories via www.surveymonkey.com.. My hope is that Meaning or Spirituality will have improved their inner life as well as their outer.
Application 3 – The devotional life is compatible with positive psychology. In Kim’s group study of Korean Christians, he showed that the devotional meditative practice of reading scripture and praying was more effective than progressive muscle relaxation; a well-establish medical practice to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Because PMR has been validated with controlled conditions, where the independent and dependent variables were studied; CMD was able to build off of prior research. Thus, Christian meditative devotions could provide external validity which means the results of the PMR study can be held true for the CMD study, and for different studies such as my capstone project. This gives me confidence that my capstone project will be able to show that positive psychology, flourishing according to Dr. Seligman’s word on PERMA, will be compatible to Jesus’ summation of the Christian devotional life to love God with everything.
Explanation / Answer
Yes, the work is clear and easy to follow. Also it is appropriate to the task and supported. It sounds achievable too.
Coming to the question under quality, the project looks like proving a point that there exists an alternative and better treatment than PMR for people suffering from psychological problems. It can help in many ways and is not specific to relationships.
So I would say this project/ method proves to improve the mental health of a person in a better way and in turn can create hope in the world and healthy relationships is one of the signs of good mental health. The work meets the goal in an indirect way.
