Ans 1) Descriptive studies are used to discover exposure and disease in population, that can be used to generate hypothesis but they are not designed to test hypothesis. Whereas experimental studies are used to discover relation between exposure and diease or any other health outcome. Experimental designs can be in the control trial or can have field design. I would chose field experminet design to seek the relation between smoking and cancer. I would go to cancer treatment clinic - this can be the basic condition to infer causation. In this clinic I would interview people and their habbits exp. people suffering from lung cancer.
