Explanation / Answer

it is important to tell Jackie that the basic information about the nbas test. The NBAS is the neonatal behavioural assessment scale which has also been known as the brazelton neonatal assessment scale, as it had been developed by Dr. T Berry brazelton, where there is production of 47 scores of which 20 responses are elicited responses and 27 responses are related to the behaviour. This is generally given to an infant of age 3 days to 4 weeks, which helps in describing the strengths of the baby to the possible vulnerabilities that he would be having to and his adaptive responses. This has been primarily used to understand that the baby when after beings just a few weeks old is a highly developed organism. It helps the parent in developing strategies that would enable the parent to care in the intimate relationships developed such that their relationship with the child could be enhanced at the earliest. Though, this test may not be a very good predictor of future intelligence. The NBAS test is not completely reliable in there is poor documentation and poor prediction and construct validity. Also, it is not very good in prediction of later intelligence and the scale had been supposed to assess the relationship that exists between the infant and the mother. Here, high scores are only supposed to PRESUME higher intelligence levels. Thus, as a predictor of future intelligence, this test is unsatisfactory. No, since it is not a good predictor or a concrete evidence about a child’s development.
