Question
A researcher randomly assigns 33 subjects to one of three groups. Group 1 receives technical dietary information interactively from an on-line website. Group 2 receives the same information from a nurse practitioner, while Group 3 receives the information from a video tape made by the same nurse practitioner. The researcher looked at three different ratings of the presentation; difficulty, usefulness, and importance to determine if there is a difference in the modes of presentation. In particular, the researcher is interested in whether the interactive website is superior because that is the most cost-effective way of delivering the information.
Explanation / Answer
The information given by the nurse practioner directly will be more effective in terms of difficulty, usefulness and importance . A face to face interaction is always superior in comparison of interactive mode or video based mode . However in the light of advantages in cost saving one may add features in the interactive website.interactive websites can overcome limitations of the one time face to face interaction . Although when ever a comparison would be done face to face interaction will always be rated higher , but if we take our the personal interaction from the experience of the client , interactive Websites will also get higher ratings . We can take example of banking here . the customer has learnt to use the web mode so much that today hardly any one visits banks , whereas when the internet banking was introduced customer insisted on coming to bank fo all the service .
