Hans J. Eysenck studied the biologically based trait theory and developed the hierarchy of behavior organization. He began researching the dimensions of personality, including extroversion, neuroticism and psychoticism. He was able to look at personality as behavior, as well as personality as a disease. Eysenck’s personality theory has elements of both nurture as well as nature of a person. As compared to the earlier theories, Eysenck has included explanation of both aspects of a person. Eysenck’s theory explains that there is an amalgamation of the biological dispositions of a person along with combinations of personality traits that condition a person in his childhood. This is in combination with socialisation that creates the personality of a person. This could also be referred to as an interactionist approach and is more applicable as compared to an only biological or an only environmental approach.
