Scholarship Essay
My name is Geoffrey K Ngigi, I’m a male, age 40 year old, born in Kenya in 1977 and married. I completed my High school at Christ the king Academy in 1997 and came to America in September 2009. After settling down, I decide to go back to school and joined Jefferson state community college where I graduated with an Associate Degree in Accounting in the year 2015.
Throughout my life, I have always felt the importance of higher education, but coming from parents who did not go to school, I received limitation due to their lack of higher education. My demand for success, in a world full of unending technology, education has driven me to satisfy my hunger for further education and knowledge. Currently, I’m a student at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Accounting where I expect to graduate in spring 2020. Some of my personal growths that I have set for myself are i.e. (pursuing CPA licensure, good job, better pay, better career in life) will require higher level of education and the knowledge which will help me to achieve my aspiration. I will continue with my Master’s degree and eventually get my CPA license. I will be doing all these so that I can enrich myself with the best quality of education and attain my dream
I believe and trust that if I’m given this scholarship, I will be able to enroll as a full time student and be able to complete my remaining classes and eventually complete my bachelor’s degree in spring 2020. At the same time this scholarship will help me not to work two jobs but put most of my effort and time in studying, which will also improve on my GPA. Currently I’m depending on Financial Aid and loan to pay for my tuition but if granted this scholarship I will be able to avoid taking loans which enable me to be financially stable and support my family.
I’m confident and believe that if given this scholarship, my passion of continuing education and excelling in accounting and finance will be realized.
