Mercedes Benz is a German autobile manufacturing company with its assembly plant located in carious locations. It is one of the luxury car manufacturers.

SCM integrates all the functions within a company. In mercedes a core functional team would work with its members coming from every department to tackle the differences within the company. Organized SCM would ensure smooth flow of raw materials to the assembly plant, the efficient processing within the plant, and timely deliveries to the customers. SCM would eventually remove all the silos present in the company.
Logistics
Logitics is a sub-function of SCM which ensures efficient flow of raw materials to the assembly plant so as to avoid shortage of raw materials and to also avoid pile up of extra inventories. Milk run system ensures streamlining logistics function where the suppliers are closely located and the raw materials are transported only when they are needed.
3- E-SCM & E-Logistics
Sourcing intermediatories often help big organizations to source their raw materials from their supplier's database. Right from quotation to delivery is handled by the sourcing firms. E-SCM comes to life through various softwares lke SAP, which integrate all the functions of a company virtually. SAP helps educate the employees of a company about the other functions, thus increasing the overall efficiency.
