Question

19. Monique compares two trapezoidal prisms. Their bases are congruent, but the beight of the first prism is 6 cm and the height of the second prism is 15 cm. What is the relationship between the volumes of the two prisms? A. The volume of the first prism is 2.5 times the volume of the second prism. B. The volume of the second prism is 2.5 times the volume of the first prism. C. The volume of the second prism is 9 times the volume of the first prism. D. The volume of the first prism is 9 times the volume of the second prism.

Explanation / Answer

Volume of a prism = Base Area * Height

Volume of the 1st Prism = 6 * Base Area

Volume of the 2nd Prism = 15 * Base Area

Since Base Area is the same Therefore Volume od Prism 1/Volume of Prism 2 = 6/15 = 2/5

Therefore Volume of Prism 2 = (5/2) times the volume of Prism 1 = 2.5 Times the volume of Prism 1.

Option B is the correct answer.
