The purpose of this homework is to learn about sampling, sampling distribution and its relation to population mean ( µ ).

SPSS assignment 1

Open GSS-SPSS file.

Use “Dataà Select Cases “ command and select a 10% sample as guided in Handout 6. After you select the sample you will see the sign “Filter On” in the lower left corner of the SPSS screen.

Next, perform a descriptive analysis to obtain the mean and standard deviation (SD) of the variable age

Repeat the 10% sampling five more times and write the results in the following sampling distribution table. I do the first one and you do the next 5 samples

Remember: To take a new sample, you must cancel the previous selection by changing “random sample of cases” button to “All cases” button in the dialogue box and then launch a new sample.
