Question
Select the following test procedure that should be used to test the following hypothesis:
There have been several studies investigating the possible association between breast cancer and the use of oral contraceptives. Suppose a cohort of 5,000 in the age group 31-40 with no previous history of breast cancer is established in 1970 of whom 3,000 have used oral contraceptives at some point in their lives (ever users) and 2,000 have never used oral contraceptives. This cohort is examined every 2 years until 1980 for the presence of breast cancer and it is found that over 10 years 1 of the ever users has developed the disease while 4 of the never users have developed the disease. Let us assume that there are no dropouts from the study over the 10-year period. Test for the association between the use of oral contraceptives and breast cancer.
