Question

Weekly mean sales of three local hardware stores were randomly selected. These independent random samples were selected from Normally distributed populations. In order to perform a one-way ANOVA test, the population standard deviations must be equal. The sample standard deviations of the three samples were sA = 0.7, sB = 1.2, and sC = 1.1 (in thousands of dollars). Does this information lead us to believe that the population standard deviations are equal?

No, since the sample standard deviations are not equal.

Yes.

There is not enough information to be able to tell.

Explanation / Answer

There is not enough information to teel. As the info is given for one sample of each store they may vary this doesn't imply that population standard deviations also vary. For this we need to apply levene's test for which observations for sample are needed. So given information is not sufficient from statistical point of view.
