A quarter collection contains fifteen 2010 quarters, eight 2011 quarters, twenty 2012 quarters, and twenty-five 2013 quarters. If you randomly pick some quarters without looking at the dates, how many must you pick to be sure of getting at least five quarters of the same year?

Explanation / Answer

Number of ways to select president = 8

Number of ways to select treasurer = 7

Number of ways to select secretary = 9
