Use SPSS to perform calculations illumination increases speed of productivity among factory workers at the OT Toy Factory Teo groups are randomy selected from tha fat tory workers Each participand is grven 100 toy phones to put together The tims taken n hours is recarded for each partcipant to complete the task and is presented in the table below Group A works under nomal lghting condtions while for Group B, the ilumnaice level is increased by 5% Their scores are as follows of hours of hours 4.0 3.7 1 State the nul hypothesis What is the t score and significance value? Write in the conect format 3. Do you fail to reject or reject the null hypothesis? 4 is there is a significant difference in the speed af productivity scores between Groups A and B? 5 Identily the independent and dependent variables INSTRUCTIONS 1. Explanation / Answer

H0: 1 - 2 = 0 i.e. (1 = 2)

H1: 1 - 2 0 i.e. (1 2)

Assuming population variances are equal, we would have to calculate pooled-variance t-Test

Sp^2= (n1-1)S1^2+(n2-1)S2^2/(n1-1)+(n2-1)

         = (7-1)*0.9856^2+(7-1)*0.6264^2/6+6

         = 8.18/12

         = 0.68

tSTAT=(X1-X2)-(µ1-µ2)/Sp^2(1/n1+1/n2)

       =(5.0857-3.87)-0/0.68(1/7+1/7)

       =1.2143/0.1943

       =6.25

tCRIT is +/-2.18 and hence reject the null hypothesis (There is a significant difference in the speed of productivity scores between Groups A and B)

Running independent samples t test in SPSS: -

1) Analyze=>Compare Means=>Independent Samples T Test

2) Input the Test Variable and Grouping Variable

3) Enter the confidence interval which would be 95% and Exclude cases analysis by analysis

4) Click on Continue

5) Click on OK
