I need answer for this question keep it simple. Thanks.
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT TWO: STANDARD REGRESSION OR ANOVA? In the following hypothetical research question, decided whether you want to use standard regres- sion using two-way Pearson correlation r-test or two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) using the F-test. To do so, you need to answer the following questions: 1. What level of measurement are my variables? This is open for interpretation in some cases. 2. Which variable is my independent variable (IV) and which is my dependent variable (DV)? Once you have answered those questions, create a causal model showing the relationship between the variables (your hypothesis) for each research question. Choose which test you would use in each case and write a sentence describing why you chose that test. 1. Cats eat difference quantities of pet food than dogs do. 2. The number of protein bars people can eat in one sitting changes as we age. 3. Women use a different number of words in a sentence when speaking, when compared with men. 4. There is a relationship between the number of classes students skip and the grades they earn on quizzes and exams. 5. The productivity of workers is related to whether they take vacations or not. (see Chapter 12, Homework Assignment One)Explanation / Answer
1. F test
Dependent variable: quantity of food ( continuous variable)
Independent variables: animals ( catagorical variables )
2.t test
Variables: number of protein ( discrete) bars and age (continuous)
3. F test
Dependent variable: number of words in a sentence (discrete)
Independent variables: sex ( catagorical)
4. T test
Variables: number of classes (discrete) and grades ( discrete or ordinal)
5. F test
Dependent variable: productivity of workers ( in some scales, ordinal),
independent : vacation ( catagorical variables)
