Generally, every organization consist three levels, those are high level management , middle level management and lower level management , among them middle and operational management will monitor the firm performance. To make structured decisions, operational managers will use transaction support system, to make semi structured decisions, tactical mangers will use management information system and to make unstructured decisions, strategic managers will use decision support system. Decision support system will get support to management information system, decision support system will take support from management information system and it uses data from external sources like market conditions, trends, competition etc...
Information system is software which can useful to record, store, summarize and analyze data to solve any kind of problems in an organization. To making group decision, we can use Group decision support system, with using this we can simply share problem with group through computer network and generate and share ideas to make decisions more effectively.
1. Management information system is a software based system which provides different tools to middle level managers to organize and manage various departments more effectively.
Decision support system used by top level management, when strategic managers wants to take some strategic decisions, they use this information system which consist full information of MIS and information from other sources.
Executive support system useful to various departments like accounts, hr departments to access data quickly and make prompt decisions quickly.
Balanced scorecard is a best way to get information about performance of an organization by using managers and executives, with using this we can identify various departments internal functioning and we can improve them. Business performance management means a set of activities which are useful to improve the organization’s performance and useful to achieve predetermined objectives.
Group decision support system is useful to make decisions by group wise and every person will involve in the decision making process, they give new ideas to solve problem.
The main difference between Decision support system and Group decision support system will explained below.
Decision support system will guide only one person to solve unstructured decisions but in group decision support system will help group of people to solve problems by sharing their ideas
