Question

Use SPSS to answer the research question. Post your response to the following: 1. What is your research question? 2. What is the null hypothesis for your question? 3. What research design would align with this question? 4. What dependent variable was used and how is it measured? 5. What independent variable is used and how is it measured? 6. What other variables were added to the multiple regression models as controls? 7. What is the justification for adding the variables? 8. If you found significance, what is the strength of the effect? 9. Explain your results for a lay audience, explain what the answer to your research question

Explanation / Answer

1) Research Question

How number of hours spent per day watching TV within different age groups and other factors influence R's Socioeconomic index?

2) Null Hypothesis:

H0: There is no significant relation between the number of hours spent watching TV and the R's Socioeconomic Index.

3) Regression Model on Field Experiments (case-control studies).

4) Dependent Variable is R's Socioeconomic Index and is measured using multiple linear regression.

5) Independent variable is Hours per day watching TV. It is not measured but the data collected through field experiments (case-control studies) asking questions to the respondents. 1600 respondents in all.

6) Other variable used is age of the respondents of the controls.

7) Other variables are needed as the Rsquare value is too less and also the R value which is only 0.206. This means that these two variables hardly explain the total variation. We need to find other factors that impact the variation.
