Question

B.) Start the Waveforms 2015 software. You do not need the AD2 to be plugged in. Using the demo Discovery 2, simulate various waveforms using the wavegen tool.

-Make a comment(1-2 sentences) on what happens to the waveform as you adjust the amplitude.

-Make a comment(1-2 sentences) on what happens to the waveform as you adjust the frequency.

-Make a comment(1-2 sentences) on what happens to the waveform as you adjust the phase shift.

C.) Simulate three signals of varying amplitudes and phase shifts. Maintain the frequency at 30 Hz.

Draw the associated imaginary plots for the three signals.

Any help with this would be very appreciated. I think I can figure out what to write for the sentences, but I don't know how to make the imaginary plots. Thank you!

Explanation / Answer

WaveForms software shows the signals with some input given by some hardware like microprocessor, controllers or logic devices. So you can get signal from these devices to WaveForm software. But imaginary plots can not be plotted in this software directly. As this is hardware oriented software with limited funtionalities, Instead you can plot the imaginary plots in matlab using the following commands

Matlab Code:

z = complex(3, 2)

plot(real(z), imag(z), '*')

(or)

z = [3+2i, -2+1i, -2-1i, 1-2i]

plot(z, '*')
