Question
5. The power spectrum of a distorted 5 KHz sinusoid is shown below. Calculate the signal to noise ratio in dB for this signal. Hint: The 5 KHz term is the signal and everything else is the noise P(dB 20 10 -10 -20 .40 15 2025 30 f (KHz) Rate 400kSa/s Scale O Offset A Window 10dB/ 20.0dB 6. The screenshot above shows a rectangular pulse train in both the time and the frequency domain. Use the time domain signal to determine the frequency of the x-axis center of the screen. The y-axis frequency domain scale is 10 dB/division and the y-axis center of the screen is the offset, -20 dB Determine the power in the 4th harmonic in Watts. Calculate the RMS value of this signal a. b. c.Explanation / Answer
Hello,
Please find the answer to the fifth question attached as under. Please give a thumbs up rating if you find the answer useful! Have a rocking day ahead!
Signal power in dbW = 20. Therefore, actual signal power = 10W. (take the antilog)
Noise power in dbW = -20, 0 -20. Therefore, actual noise power = 0.1, 1 and 0.1
Total noise power = 0.1+1+0.1 = 1.2
Therefore, SNR = sqrt(10/1.2) = 2.8
SNR in DB = 20log(2.8) = 9.3
