upton/Desktop/Exam%20Paper%20201 7. 10/16MM232.pdf A Pneumatic Cascade Circuit is shown in Figure 1. This aircuit is used to control a packaging application. The to extend pushing a package into a box. Cylinder B must then extend and push a cylinder sequence is to operate as follows. Cylinder A is health and safety leaflet into the same box Once the leaflet is in place Cylinder B should retract tollowed by Cylinder A Using IS.O pneumatic symbols and the CASCADE METHOD draw a circuit to provide the required sequence of events OROUP VILZA AILLA Figure I: Cascade Pneumatic ProblemExplanation / Answer
The cascade method is a simple method to create pneumatic circuits which involves many cylinders to generate a sequence of events for a given operation.
As compared to classic method where by intuition all the timing of valves are coordinated which is like a simple trial and error method. Cascade method is more methodical simple and easy method. In cascade method a bistable memory valve or reversing valve is used for avoiding signal conflicts.
In order to develop control circuitry for multi cylinder applications in cascade method, we draw the motion diagram to understand the sequence of actuation of various signal input switches-limit switches and sensors. This Motion diagram represents status of cylinder position - whether extended or retracted in a particular step. In this method the air supply to various pilot trip valves is derived from a group selector valve. This ensure air supply to valve only when needed and all the other time valves are without air supply.
Advantages
1. All the designing can be done easy and fast.
2. fault analysis become very simple in this method
3. All the operations of cylinder and the signal elements are timed and totally ensured.
