Question
1. A particle moves with a fixed acceleration 3 . If its initial velocity is v(0) = 2 m/s, and its initial displacement is s(0) = 0.
(a) Find its velocity function v(t).
(b) How longs does it take for the particle reach the velocity 14 ?
(c) Find the distance the particle traveled when its velocity reaches 14 .
Explanation / Answer
a.)
a=3 m/s^2
v(0)=2 m/s
s(0)=0
v=u+at
=> v=u+3t
at t=0,
=> u=2+0
=> u=2.
So, v=2+3t
b.)
v=u+at
=> 14=2+3t
=> 12=3t
=> t=4 sec.
c.)
s=ut+(1/2)at^2=2*4+(1/2)*3*16=8+3*8=24+8=32 m.
