A person from the town is randomly selected; what is the probability that the individual is employed part-time, given that he or she is at least 35 years old? ears of age?Explanation / Answer
Solution:-
1) The probability that the individual is employed part time given that he or she is between the ages of 35 and 49 is 0.2072.
Number of individual between the ages of 35 and 49 = 864
Number of individual who are employed part time and between the ages of 35 and 49 = 179
The probability that the individual is employed part time given that he or she is between the ages of 35 and 49 = 179/864 = 0.2072
2) The probability that the individual is unemployed given that he or she is above 50 years is 0.2224
Number of individual is above 50 years of age = 778
Number of individual who are unemployed and above 50 years of age = 173
The probability that the individual is unemployed given that he or she is above 50 years = 173/778 = 0.2224
3) The probability that the individual is employed full time given that he or she is between the ages of 18 and 49 years of age is 0.6048
Number of individual between the ages of 18 and 49 = 536 + 442 + 864 = 1842
Number of individual who are employed full time and between the ages of 18 and 49 = 185 + 348 + 581 = 1114
The probability that the individual is employed full time given that he or she is between the ages of 18 and 49 years of age = 1114/1842 = 0.6048
4) The probability that the individual is employed part time given that he or she is atleast 35years of age is 0.2077.
Number of individual who's age is atleast 35 years = 864 + 778 = 1642
Number of individual who are employed part time and atleats 35 years of age = 179 + 162 = 341
The probability that the individual is employed part time given that he or she is atleast 35 years of age = 341/1642 = 0.2077
