Question
A random sample of 200 students was chosen.The frequency distribution below shows the distribution of study time each week (in hours). Show all work. (typing it is fine, doesnt need to be handwritten. Prefer if not actually)
Study Time (in hours Frequency Relative Frequency 0.0-5.0 5.1 10.0 10.1- 15.0 15.1 20.0 20.1- 25.0 Total 6 24 50 0.35 2CM) (a Complete the frequency table with frequency and relative frequency. Express the relative frequency to two decimal places (b) What percentage of the study times was at most 15 hours? (c) In what class interval must the median lie? 5.1 10.0, 10.1-15.0, 15.1 -20.0, or 20.1 25.01? Why?Explanation / Answer
a) Frequency of 15.1-20.0 is 0.35*200 = 70
Frequency of 20.1-25.0 is 200 - (6+24+50+70) = 50
Relative frequencies:
6/200 = 0.03
24/200 = 0.12
50/200 = 0.25
70/200 = 0.35
50/200 = 0.25
b) P(X <=15) = 0.03+0.12+0.25 = 0.4
c) The median will be the average of 100th and 101st values. These lie in the class interval 15.1 - 20.0
