1. (a) If we choose Age as our variable
To find the 95% confidence interval of all ABC students, we have to first find the t value at a sig. level of alpha/2 i.e t at 0.025, then we need to compute the std. dev s of the sample, this can be done by using the STDEV.S() function in excel and we need the total number of observations n
Now if U is the mean of this varaible which can be computed using AVERAGE() function in Excel
The Confidence interval at 95% = U +- t(alpha/2) * s / SQRT(n)
(b) To find C.I. for males within the AGE variable we have to find find all males first, which can be accomplished by putting a filter on the gender column in excel and performing the steps mentioned in part a on the observation so obtained
(c) To find C.I. for females within the AGE variable we have to find find all females first, which can be accomplished by putting a filter on the gender column in excel and performing the steps mentioned in part a on the observation so obtained
