I am working on a project that is going to answer if there is an asociation between sugar-sweetened beverages and obesity. I need to use a statical method to solve the problem. I am using several variables. I am going to take the states in United States as the sample. I'll use number of people per state, percentage of people overweight per state, percentage of people drinking at least one sugar beverage a day per state, ethnicity per state that is obese and age groups. The last 2 variables are going to be used as lunking variables. What STATICAL METHOD would you recomend to solve this problem?

Explanation / Answer

Here Sugar_ Sweetended beverage and Obesity are continuous variables . So we use Correlation statistics to check the Association between them.

If correlation is close to 1 or -1 we say that The Sugar_ Sweetended beverage are highly positively or highly nigatively associated with Obesity. also If correlation is < 0.4 or > -0.4 we say that The Sugar_ Sweetended beverage are lowly positively or lowly nigatively associated with Obesity. And if Correlation value is 0 then we say that the Sugar_ Sweetended beverage are not associated with Obesity.

Here We use logistic regreesion to determine regression model for response variable as % of people drinking at least one Sugar beverage a day using predictor variables as number of people per state, % of people overweight per state, and Obesity , Age group of people.

We also use classification rule. Best classifier for given data is Logestic regression classifier.
