7. Describe a time when you worked on a project that required you to liaise with a wide variety of people. You can use an example from paid employment or from schoolwork.
Ans- The first time when I liaise with a wide variety of people was when I was in 2nd year of my graduation. A blood donation camp which was organized in our college. I with my team made all preparations such as sanitation, arrangement of beds. Many people have participated in the camp. It was the first live project and we managed very sincerely and performed every task and duties which was allotted to us.
a) What was the work and what specifically was your contribution?
Ans- I was the co coordinator of the camp. I made 2 teams and allotted task to every individual volunteer. 1st team was discipline team which was sending people in order and outsourcing with providers and staff . 2nd team was food team which was providing the refreshments.
b) What feature of this project required you to liaise extensively and how was this similar to the work of an HR professional?
Ans- i) Our focus was to keep both the team connected and objective was the successful completion of project.
ii) We where the strategic partner with provider.
c) How did you decide on priorities?
Ans- i) Make a list of all task, ii) We need to separate urgent and important task, iii) We find the task which has highest value for our self, iv) Being flexible and adaptable, v) Finish the task and be self-motivated.
d) Using Neo-Institutional Theory, explain why managing workloads and time management in a group can be so difficult, especially in the Canadian multi-cultural work world.
Ans- The Neo-Institutional theory helps to understand organizational behavior as situated in and influenced by other organizations and wider social forces—especially broader cultural rules and beliefs. It assumes a greater influence on human behaviour coming from the socio-political environment surrounding people and organizations than from within individual or group based interactions. One fifth of Canadian are foreign born and they have positive opinion of immigration. Canadian multicultural values towards the society which integrates newcomers through generosity and sincerity to its values and principles. We could not conclude that workloads and time management wil be difficult here in Canada.
e) What did you find worked best to encourage best practices in workload and time management among your group members?
Ans- i) Motivating the team , ii) By providing certificates and appreciation, iii) Playing short indoor time management games, iv) Providing incentives for overtime, v) engaging them towards cultural awareness.
