Question
I want to calculate this problem in "SPSS" program and se how it looks. I want also to do this theorical. Kan anyone help with this question?
It is one single die(die is symmetrical). We are rolling one die 50 times(so it is one die in the 50 rolls). Let random variable X be the 1 numbers observed in the 50 rolls.
(Number of die to roll=1
number of rolls=50
X= number of 1 what you observed in the 50 rolls (we have 6 side in one die . it is 1, 2,3,4,5,6. How many 1 observed in the 50 rolls. So random variable X= count of 1 observed in the 50 rolls )
simulate result of this rolling What distribution is appropriate to use for X? Calculate Expected value ( = E(x) = x . P (X = x) ) all x Calculate standard deviationExplanation / Answer
This can be thought of as a binomial distribution.
Probability of occurence of a 1 = 1/6
Probability of a non-occurence of 1 = 5/6
Expected value = n x p = 50 x (1/6) = 50/6 = 8.33
Variance = n x p x q = 50 x (1/6) x (5/6) = 250/36 = 6.9444
Standard Deviation = sqrt (6.9444) = 2.635
