When point C comes in contact with a heat reservoir which is slightly at a higher temperature than C, the heat will start to flow from reservoir to the region C, as a result of which the temperature of the substance will increase till equilibrium is reached with the reservoir. As reservoir temperature is slightly higher than the substance temperature, the position of C will increase slightly and remain in between the position of A and B.
