Calculate the size of the focal spot required such that the size of the penumbra is the same as that in (a).

Explanation / Answer

a) M = 40/50

          = 0.8

   size of penumbra = 0.8 * SID= 0.8*44

                              = 35.2 cm

b) size of focal spot = 4 * 40

                                  = 160 cm
