a. The entire group of individuals or instances about whom one hopes to learn is termed as population. Here, the population is post menopausal women.

b. Factor refer to a variable whose levels are manipulated by the experimenter. Experiment attempts to discover the effects that differences in factor levels may have on the responses of the experimental units. Thus, the factors are taking alcoholic beverage and taking estrogen supplement. Levels refer to specific values that the experimenter chooses for a factor. Therefore, for factor type taking alcoholic beverage, the levels are yes and no and for factor taking estrogen supplement, the levels are yes and no.

c. Response variable refer to variable whose values are compared across different treatments. Thus, the response variable is estrogen level.

d. There are 24 menopaual women selected, who are divided into two groups (12 each) that is 12 menopausal women who take estrogen supplement and 12 menopausal women who donot take estrogen supplement. Each of the 12 women in either groups are then subdivided into 6 each-6, who take alcoholic beverage and 6 who donot take alcoholic beverage.
