Whilst writing a full page essay is beyond the scope, given the time constraint that I have-I shall certainly aim to give you a detailed structure in terms of how to write this essay.
In the various situations that we may face, either at a personal level or at a professional level, leadership as an attribute has a significant importance. Leadership, is the ability of an individual to lead a group of individuals through various means. From a theoretical standpoint, leadership can transformational, transactional or laissez faire. Transformational leadership is all about inspiring a group of people by directly engaging with them in a bid to understand their issues.
The world is replete with examples of great leaders who have played pivotal roles in transforming societies, organizations, and countries through this kind of leadership.
An appropriate example can be given of Rafiah Ibrahim, who is the senior vice president and head of market area Middle East & Africa. Her example is appropriate not just because she has achieved many feats in her corporate journey thus far, but also because as a woman she serves as an inspiration for many other businesswomen all across the globe.
Rafiah was born in Malaysia and received her education from Southampton, England. Armed with an engineering degree, her sting with the telecom industry started with Telecom Malaysia. In her role, she was responsible largely for the operational aspects of the company. This domain largely consisted of male members and yet that never played in her mind. After a successful stint of 7 years, she was given a promotion and she became responsible for network operations for the entire country.
Besides being adept at work, Rafiah also was very compassionate. In her stint in Bangladesh, she undertook several projects at her individual capacity. She worked and sponsored an orphanage, she made contributions towards making of a mosque.
In her professional world, she has travelled to many parts of the world and has interacted with various culture and understood the nuances of people. She utilizes this knowledge to garner more business and also manages to be empathetic to her customers’ needs.
Owing to such astute knowledge of her market, her company has made several feats in the middle east area having made inroads into market segments which have been traditionally milked by European competitors.
Transformational leaders, like Radiah, have a very clear vision in terms of what their goals are and they also firmly believe that goals cannot be achieved alone, sitting in silos. They have a very collaborative approach and do not shy away from sharing the credit for any feat.
In terms of personality traits, transformational leaders are most often open to new experiences, be it creative expression or emotional responsiveness. They are generally agreeable and conscientious.
