a. State the null and research hypothesis. b. Set the level of risk c. Select the appropriate test d. Compute the obtained value. e. Find the critical value f. Compare the obtained value and the critical value. g. State your decision.

Explanation / Answer

a) null hypothesis: all different major groups have equal mean score for  U.S. history exam.

alternate hypothesis:at least two major groups have different mean score for  U.S. history exam.

b) level of risk =0.05

c)we will run one way ANOVA

d)

obtained test value =0.5684

e) critical value =3.3541

f) as obtained value is less then critical value; test stat is not in critical region.

g) therefore we fail to reject null hypothesis

we do not have sufficient evidence to conclude that at least 2 major groups have different mean score for  U.S. history exam.
