Question
I cant seem to match the p value. Im using the 2-sampleTtest on the ti84plus. My t value matches the answer but my p value is .00311 but answer key says .0017. Also what information (rule) is there that suggest a significant difference ?
19. In the book Business Research Methods (1995), the authors discuss a manager who compares the efrectivenes of two training styles. He does so by conducting an experiment in which newly hired salespeople were assigned to one of the two training methods. Twenty-eight people got randomly assigned to receive training method A, and twenty-one people got assigned to training method B. After the training, all people are assigned to their respective stores, and work for the next year. At year's end, the average weekly sales for the salespeople are co on the type of training they received (method A or B). The we below. We get the value of the test statistics t as 3.194 and if we take it as 3.2 and if we use excel function to find the p-value then we get the p-value as 0.002 which is approximated value of .0017.
Excel function:
=tdist(3.2,47,2)
If we take the level of significance as 5% then this test statistics is significant as p-value is less than the level of significance here (.002 < .05).
There is a significant difference between the average sales for training styles A and B.
