Explanation / Answer

I am solving the first question, Q9 with all sub-parts as per Chegg guidelines, post multiple question to get the remaining answers

Q9)

a) probability that you get a heart

There are four suites each having 13 cards (spades, diamonds, clubs and heart)

Probability of getting a heart = 13C1/52C1 = 13/52 = 1/4

b) ODDS of getting a heart is equal to 1 in 4 (Out of 4 drawn cards, we will get 1 heart)

c)

There will be four seven cards one each belonging to each suite

P(getting a suite) = 4C1/52C1 = 1/13

d)

Probability of getting a heart and seven = 1C1/52C1 = 1/52 [since we have only one card which satisfy both the constraints that is 7 of hearts]

e)

P(heart or seven) = 13 (heart cards) + 3(7 of spades, club and diamnond) = 16

P(getting heart or seven) = 16C1/52C1 = 4/13
