Question:
The data required for this assignment is downloadable from Canvas. In the dataset are 130 observations of the thickness of paint lms (measured in microns) that were painted in an automatic paint process. The process has an average of µ = 100 and a known standard deviation of = 10. Suppose you would like to ensure that the process stays within one standard deviation of the average.
Generate and plot two x control charts, one with n = 5 and one with n = 10, and answer the following questions:
1. What are the control limits for n = 5 and n = 10? 2. How many times would the process have been outside statistical control for n = 5 and n = 10? 3. If you would like to detect smaller shifts in the mean, which would you recommend, n = 5 or n = 10?

3) I would choose for n=10 as the spread between the limits is less.
