In order to find who has the overall better score among bachelor and masters, compute the mean score for each using the frequency distribution.
The mean reading score for bachelor is: (165*5+168*5+171*3+174*3+177*4+180*3+183*5+186*6+189*2)/(5+5+3+3+4+3+5+6+2)=6357/36=176.58
Similarly, the mean reading score for masters is:(173*2+176*3+179*3+181*3+183*4+185*3+188*5)/(2+3+3+3+4+3+5)=181.78
Thus, it seems that masters has overall better reading score (181.78>176.58). Ans>B.
If you note carefully the frequency distribution of the three-bachelors, masters and combined, you will see that combined has two applicants in the interval 189, wheras, bachelors has no applicatants beyond the interval 172 and masters too has no applicants beyond interval 188. Thus, combined seem to have the most obvious outlier. Ans>C.
The right tail of the histogram of distribution of reading scores for bachelors is far extended than the left tail. Thus, it has positively skewed distribution. And, the left tail of the histogram of masters is far extended than the right tail, thus it has negatively skewed distribution. The distribution of combined is roughly symmetrical, it has neither positively or negatively skewed shape.
Since, combined has neither positive or negatively skewed shape, therefore, finding an applicants' score using this distribution is easiest.Ans>C.
The independent variable is the variable , whose levels are manipulated by the experimenter. Therefore, the variable education level is the independent one, as it has different levels-bachelors, masters and combined. Ans>A
